A strong piano education includes more than learning pieces—it builds musicianship. My teaching philosophy is holistic and student-centered, integrating technique, music reading, ear training, theory, and creative exploration. Instruction is tailored to each student’s age, interests, learning style, and goals, so the work is both structured and personally meaningful.
Alongside building strong fundamentals, students are encouraged to listen deeply, think independently, and play with expression. Creativity is an essential part of the process—improvisation, exploration, and musical choices help each student develop their own voice at the piano. The aim is to cultivate skill, confidence, musical independence, and a lasting enjoyment of music.
Practice
Made Simple
No more wondering what or how much to practice. I make practicing simple by giving you a shared Google Doc that keeps everything in one place. I will create a practice routine, so you will always know what you are practicing, how long, and in what order, and I will also make a checklist, so it’s easy to keep track of your practice. After each lesson, I’ll add detailed practice notes, and a lesson summary. Your pieces, exercises, links, and any lesson materials will all be organized in that same document, so you can open it anytime and practice with confidence—no searching, no guessing, and no feeling overwhelmed.
A Clear Path
You’ll always have a clear pathway toward your goals. We’ll start by defining what you want—whether that’s performing confidently, reading music more easily, improving technique, or composing your own pieces —and then I’ll map out the steps to get you there. Your assignments will combine graded pieces, progressive studies and technical work, and practical theory and composition assignments that will help you reach your goals.
I tailor each student’s curriculum around what they’re excited to play and what they want to achieve—so it’s never a one-size-fits-all, “just follow the method book” approach. Alongside the core skills we’re building, you’ll be able to choose pieces you genuinely enjoy, and I’ll help you find options that fit your level.

You Can Replay
I allow (and encourage) students to record our lessons because it can make practicing clearer, faster, and less frustrating. You can replay the exact moment we fix a fingering, count a rhythm, shape a phrase, or adjust technique—so you’re not relying on memory or guessing between sessions. Recordings also help you track your progress as you can look back on past recordings to see how far you’ve come.
